How is a weighted grade calculated?
Each category's score is multiplied by its weight, and those weighted values are added together and divided by the total weight entered so far. For example, a 90% on a category worth 20% contributes 18 weighted points.
How does the 'what do I need on my final' calculator work?
It takes your target overall grade, subtracts the weighted points you've already earned from your other categories, and divides the remainder by your final exam's weight to find the score you need.
What if the weights I enter don't add up to 100%?
The calculator only uses the weight you've entered so far to compute your current grade, so it's normal for weights to add up to less than 100% until you've entered every category, including your final exam.
